Site 1 & 67 - De Lithse Ham Camping.

On our last visit (17th - 22nd September 2013) the site was technically closed but the hospitable Dutch allowed us to stay but on a road as the site itself is waterlogged

Reception

The camping site at Lith in The Netherlands is not one we would have found ourselves, it does not accept ASCI or Camping Cheques and it’s web site is in Dutch only but Sue has a friend that lives on the site and we went to visit her.

The site itself is quite large with a large number of chalets/static vans and a yacht marina but still a good number of large touring pitches spread throughout the site.

We stayed on the tent field where the sockets to the power supply were the old style 2 pin but all the proper caravan pitches had CEE sockets, I’m not sure what the supply was rated but we did not trip the supply at any time during our stay.

Many of the forums we read before we came away suggested pre-booking in August but there were always a good number of pitches available here, in fact we had the couple of acre camping field to ourselves for the entire duration of our three week stay.

The facilities on the site would have been hopelessly inadequate had there been a higher occupancy rate but as it was they were always clean and the water hot for showers. The showers were timed but because we tend to shower in the afternoon (to avoid the morning rush) if the shower turned itself off on timer, and there was a time lock that prevented you from simply starting it again within a few minutes so I moved to another shower. There are washing machines and dryers at reasonable prices.

There is a large restaurant and bar on site that seemed well patronized but we did not visit so cannot comment on it. The large swimming pool and children’s pay area was always well used

There is public bus transport within a short distance of the site that will soon whisk you to the mainline railway station from where you can access the whole of The Netherlands.

Because we were visiting a friend we used her Wi-Fi (from the van – her signal was strong) there is Wi-Fi on site but we didn't us it so don't know the cost.
